WELCOME Deep Blue THE TRANSLATOR OF “ Way of the Devil ”

TRANSLATOR’S THOUGHTS

Deep Blue

Hey, Deep Blue here!

I’m really excited to work with Qidian International to bring you this translated novel–Way of the Devil! It’s wonderful that they’ve made this possible & I’m very honored to be a part of it!

Way of the Devil is definitely not your run-of-the-mill Xianxia novel, although it’s classified as one. Are you tired of the typical Xianxia tropes (read: melodrama; overpowered MCs; tedious levelling-up; fighting for treasures; outbidding others in auctions… and so on, and so on)? THEN READ Way of the Devil! You’ll definitely find it refreshing!

What makes this novel truly unique is its sheer horror. This is a novel about the supernatural. It’s a world where demons, devils, ghosts and monsters roam the earth and terrorize ordinary mortals. It will give you the creeps & serve up delicious chills down your spine (caution: you may not want to read this novel too late at night).

Apart from that, what I really like about Way of the Devil is the main character–Lu Sheng. Here is one guy who will go to the extremes to get stronger, treading the way of the devil just so that he can survive in this terrifying world. However, at the same time, he’s extremely low-profile and behaving in an understated manner. Nobody knows the extent of his true power–those who do are dead.

Not only that, Way of the Devil has been consistently ranked among the Top Ten novels in its category on the Qidian main site since its release! As I’m writing, Way of the Devil ranks No. 6 on the Original Creations Ranking, No. 4 on the Bestselling Ranking and No. 6 on the Overall Recommendation Votes Ranking! Moreover, its author, Get Lost, is a highly respected and popular writer known for his rich imagination, originality and unique writing style. The quality of this novel is guaranteed.

Trust me. If you’re not reading Way of the Devil, you’re missing out!

P.S. You'll find the name "Deep Blue" in the novel as well, but this is really just a coincidence. "Deep Blue" was already my web name from an earlier translation project!

SYNOPSIS

Way of the Devil

Demons, devils, ghosts and monsters

Plunge the mortals weak in horrors;

Arms of gods and blades of devils,

Shroud the world in untold evils.

Lu Sheng was an ordinary civil servant in the modern world. After waking from a drunken stupor one day, he found himself trapped in a dangerous world where demons, ghosts and supernatural monsters terrorize the land.

In this world, ordinary mortals live in dark fear and helplessness, without any means to fight against the supernatural.

As Lu Sheng struggles desperately for survival, he stumbles upon a game mod he had designed for a mobile phone app in his previous life. It unexpectedly becomes his special ability, which enables him to instantly level up any skill he learns, albeit at a cost.

Thus, Lu Sheng begins his journey, striving for power beyond the reach of a mortal as he treads the way of the Devil…

AUTHOR’S FOREWORD

Get Lost

I’m very glad to share the story I write with foreign readers. I’m the author–Get Lost. Having my novel chosen as one of the translated novels came as a great surprise even to me as the author. After all, the existing word count for this novel is still very low and it has been released for no more than a month when I’m writing this.

I must thank China Reading for their active promotion of me as well. My thanks also go to my editor, Wandering Dragon, and chief editor, Comfort, for their enduring support for this novel.

Way of the Devil tells the story of an ordinary mortal fighting against the entire world. Only a path of extremes can lead him to defeat the malice and darkness of this whole world. To pursue a world that he believes in and to transform all that he wants to change–he will tread on the way which crushes all other ways!

I hope you will enjoy it!

AUTHOR’S WORDS TO THE TRANSLATOR

I thank the wordsmiths who labor to perform the arduous task of translating this novel into foreign languages. Simply judging from the great amount of traditional Chinese idioms and sayings, as well as names etc., one can tell that the difficulty of translating this novel is very high. Not to mention the skill names and whatnot. Anyway, I just cannot imagine what the skill names will look like after translation. So, I can understand how hard a work it is to translate a novel of this difficulty. Once again, I sincerely thank my translator for so painstakingly researching how to translate this novel so that it will have its day to meet its foreign readers with its authentic flavor preserved.
